What is Metaverse and how will it change the world?
In no time, Metaverse has become the hottest topic in the world. With new products launching directly in the virtual world to people getting married, the possibilities of metaverse are endless. Billions of dollars are being invested in making this futuristic world, but what exactly is the metaverse?
Metaverse, as defined in Neal Stephenson’s 1992 cyberpunk novel Snow Crash, is a virtual world where avatars interact. In the Oxford Dictionary, it’s defined as a virtual reality space where users can interact with a computer-generated environment and other users.
When changing Facebook’s name to Meta, Mark Zuckerberg said he wanted to bring Metaverse to life and help people connect, find communities, and grow business. Experts believe that Facebook metaverse will be one of many to exist in years to come.
This leads to the most important question: how do you access metaverse?
A virtual world can be accessed through a console or a VR headset. It’s basically like living in a video game with your avatar. There are so many brands like Nike and H&M that have already set up their virtual world.
There will be a time when you’ll have an avatar walking into a virtual store, buy something, and it’ll be delivered to your store. Not just for brands, metaverse has the ability to conduct events and virtual meetings as well.
How the metaverses will connect is still a mystery but, time will only tell how big forces will come together to make this world common for all. Having said that, it’s hard to say that metaverse will replace face-to-face gatherings, but it’ll work alongside them. Example: Those who can’t attend live concerts will have an option to attend the same on metaverse.
Metaverse is here to say and will continue to attract the largest and wealthiest firms across the world. So, brace yourself to live in a new world.
